Over the past several months my make-up collection has consisted of only the basics. I buy what I need when I need it! This has been great for the bank account while still allowing me to purchase all of my favourite MAC and Sephora products. In December, my bank account simply wouldn’t allow me to purchase my favourites as money was going towards the holidays. Of course, I ran out of all my staples at the same time, so I decided it was time to experiment with some drugstore products and find substitutes for those months where Sephora and MAC are not in the budget.I was pleasantly surprised by these products and had to share!

Benefit POREfessional Primer $39

MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Powder $38

Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes! Precision Longwear Liner $24

Benefit Roller Lash Mascara $31

Urban Decay Chill Makeup Setting Spray $39

NYX Pore Filler Primer $16

Milani Multitasker Face Powder $9

L’Oreal Lineur Intense Felt Tip Liquid Liner $11

Covergirl Lash Blast Fusion $8

L’Oreal Infallible Makeup Extender Setting Spray $15

If anyone decides to try any of these products or has recommendations of their own, please comment below. I would be delighted to hear from you!

  1. Yes! Drug store makeup can be just as good as the ones from MAC and Sephora. Since changing jobs and moving to a new province, my monthly allowance is basically zip.. So reciving some of my fav high end products for Christmas was a real treat.

Physicians formula mineral wear powder is my go to these days. I also love their Argean wear mascara. (Which isn’t an AMAZING price at $17, but saves me $11 from the Too Faced “better than sex” mascara I used to wear). Milani baked blush is a die for, and NYC bronzers are close to MACs. Nice thing is, all these products are also cruelty free!
